Can my insurer drop me because of my roof's age?
Not solely because it is under 15 years old. If it is 15 or older, Florida law lets you get an inspection first, and the insurer can't refuse to write or renew solely on age if that inspection shows at least five years of useful life left.
What is a wind mitigation inspection?
A standardized Florida inspection (form OIR-B1-1802) that records the features that make a home resist wind — roof deck nailing, roof-to-wall connections, roof shape, secondary water resistance and opening protection. Insurers use it to apply mitigation discounts.
Do you pull the permit?
Yes. Every Florida re-roof needs a permit, and we pull it and schedule the inspections.
